In Taiwan, treasury bill buybacks have been conducted for many years since May 1993, while the buyback mechanism of central government bonds was not ready until March 2009. Government securities buyback is a debt management tool widely used in many countries. By buying back high yield off-the-run securities and issuing lower yield on-the-run securities , the MOF may promote the liquidity of the securities market and save the funding costs. [4] |
