Subject:
The Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) will issue a NT$10 coin to
commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late President Chiang Ching-kuo
on 27th April 2010. The commemorative NT$10 coin will be circulated concurrently with
the existing notes and coins.
Authority:
The authority is based on Article 13, 15 and 18-3 of The Central Bank of the Republic of
China (Taiwan) Act, Article 5 of the Regulations Governing the Issuance of Gold and Silver
Coins and Commemorative Notes and Coins, and Executive Yuan Directive: Yuan Tai Tsai
No. 0980063901 dated 9th October 2009.
Description:
1. Design and Specifications:
(1) Face Value: NT$10
(2) Composition: Cupronickel
(3) Diameter: 26 millimeters
(4) Weight: 7.5 grams
(5) Edge: milled
(6) Design:
Obverse: The main design features a portrait of the late President Chiang Ching-kuo.
The upper part of the circumscription is inscribed “The 99th Year of the
Republic of China” in Chinese and below the portrait “The Late President
Chiang Ching-kuo Centennial Commemoration” in Chinese.
Reverse: The latent images of two Chinese phrases meaning “the country is
prosperous and at peace” and “the people live in safety and happiness,”
overlap to form the shape of a Ruyi. The face value 10 “Yuan” in
Chinese, is inscribed with two latent images“ ”and “

inside the Arabic numeral 0. A tactile identification feature for blind
people “ ● ” can be found below.
2. The commemorative NT$10 coin will be circulated in Taiwan, Kinmen and Matsu region
starting 27th April 2010.
