Approved foreign exchange business in March 2018

In line with the policy of promoting the liberalization, internationalization, and development of the foreign exchange market, the Bank approved the following:

1.   Taipei Fubon Commercial Bank to engage in semi-discretionary individually managed money trust business denominated in foreign currencies.

2.   Taipei Fubon Commercial Bank, Mega International Commercial Bank, KGI Bank, and Bank of Taiwan to issue dollar-denominated senior unsecured notes.

3.   Citibank Taiwan to engage in proprietary trading of foreign securities provided such trading is neither an investment of proprietary funds nor done to meet hedging purposes.

4.   As of the end of March 2018, there were 3,435 authorized banks, including 3,397 domestic banks, 3 Mainland banks, and 35 foreign banks.
