Approved foreign exchange business in February 2017
In line with the policy of promoting the liberalization, internationalization, and development of the foreign exchange market, the Bank approved the following:
1. E. Sun Commercial Bank to issue foreign currency denominated negotiable certificate of deposits.
2. Citibank Taiwan to underwrite foreign currency denominated international bonds.
3. BNP Paribas Taipei Branch to engage in foreign securities trading business provided such trading is neither an investment of proprietary funds nor done to meet hedging purposes.
4. Natixis Taipei Branch to operate foreign exchange business. As of the end of February 2017, there were 3,428 authorized banks, including 3,389 domestic banks, 3 Mainland banks and 36 foreign banks.
