The Issuance of the New Taiwan Dollar Uncirculated Coin Collection / National Parks of Taiwan Series – Yushan National Park                                    

The Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) will issue the second coin set of the National Parks of Taiwan series– Yushan National Park on November 7, 2013. The Central Bank has delegated the Bank of Taiwan to sell the coin sets to the public on a first-come, first-served basis, limited to one set per purchaser at a time. A total of 55,000 coin sets will be issued. This coin set consists of five coins, NT$1, NT$5, NT$10, NT$20 and NT$50, as well as a commemorative medal. Each set costs NT$400.

Yushan National Park, located in the southerly portion of central Taiwan with an area of 103,121 hectares, is the second national park in Taiwan. Rich in natural resources, the Park is an epitome of Taiwan’s geological and ecological diversity.

In the Park, vegetation is influenced by the climate, and most of Taiwan’s plant covers can be found there. The diversity of plants offers a wild variety of habitats for animals, nurturing and housing numerous species of them. In addition, the Park also boasts a rich cultural and historical heritage. Many Bunun indigenous people once settled in the area, and they are known to have best adapted to the alpine topography and climate among the various indigenous tribes in Taiwan. Since 1985, the Park has made many contributions to the preservation of nature, cultural conservation and academic research. It has also been a paradise for environmental education and leisure activities.
