The Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) will issue the first coin set of the National Parks of Taiwan series– Kenting National Park on November 22, 2012. The Central Bank has delegated the Bank of Taiwan to sell the coin sets to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. A total of 72,000 coin sets will be issued, limited to one set per purchaser at a time. This set consists of five denominations of coins, NT$1, NT$5, NT$10, NT$20 and NT$50, as well as a commemorative medal. Each set costs NT$400.

Designated as a national park in 1982, Kenting National Park is the oldest national park in Taiwan. Besides stunning scenery and a diverse ecosystem, it possesses precious cultural and historical assets as well as unique folk customs, making it a “natural museum” that promotes conservation, education, research, and tourism.

We are grateful to the Kenting National Park Headquarters for examining the symbols and literature used in the preparation for the issuance of this coin set.
