Foreign Exchange Reserves as at the End of
May 2011
The foreign exchange reserves of the Republic of China amounted to US$398.68 billion at the end of May 2011, showing a decrease of US$858 million from the figure recorded at the end of the previous month.
In May 2011, the EUR and other major currencies depreciated against the US dollar. The resulting decrease in foreign exchange reserves is greater than returns from foreign exchange reserves management.

Note: The market value of securities investment and deposits held by foreign portfolio investors at the end of May 2011 reached USD260.1 billion, equivalent to 65% of foreign exchange reserves.
