The Commemorative Coin Set for the Chinese
Zodiac Year of the Tiger
The Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) will issue the commemorative coin set for 2010, the Chinese Zodiac Year of the Tiger on the 21st of January 2010. Each set consists of one silver coin weighing an ounce as well as two proof coins in different denominations. The silver coin has a face value of NT$100, the two proof coins NT$50 and NT$20, respectively. Each proof coin set costs NT$1350.
The obverse face of the silver coin shows the image of a tiger. The tiger is audacious, brave, and ferocious. The year of Tiger portends positive developments, success in enterprise, and defiance of hardship. The reverse side features an image of “The Hongmao Castle (Fort San Domingo)”. It is classified as a First Class National Monument.
The Bank of Taiwan is appointed as the delegate of the Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to deal with the sale of 120,000 sets of coins. Each person may purchase only one set of coins at a time.
