Foreign Exchange Reserves as at the End of April 2008
The foreign exchange reserves of the Republic of China amounted to US$289.38 billion at the end of April 2008, showing an increase of US$2,517 million from the figure recorded at the end of the previous month.
The main factors responsible for the increase in foreign exchange reserves in April 2008 are:
1. Returns from foreign exchange reserves management.
2. The repatriation of overseas investment by insurance business.
