Today, one of Taiwan's daily newspapers reported that "Taiwan's central bank is considering following the footsteps of Singapore's TEMASEK Holdings in the management of foreign exchange reserves." The report is inaccurate. This press statement has been issued to clarify the situation.

While answering a question raised by a legislator during the 12th Committee Meeting of the Finance Committee of Taiwan's legislature yesterday, Deputy Governor Chou said that Taiwan's central bank will consider adopting a more active approach to the management of foreign exchange reserves to enhance returns. He added that we would study various approaches followed by other countries. He did not specify which approach will be taken by Taiwan's central bank.
