Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan)
PRESS RELEASE Release Date: March 5, 2007

Foreign Exchange Reserves as at the End of
February 2007

The foreign exchange reserves of the Republic of China amounted to US$267.99 billion at the end of February 2007, showing an increase of US$2,015 million from the figure recorded at the end of last month.
The main factors responsible for the increase in foreign exchange reserves in February 2007 are:
1. Returns from foreign exchange reserves management.
2. The Euro and other major currencies appreciated against the US dollar. Foreign exchange reserves denominated in these currencies were worth more in terms of the base currency, the US dollar.
