Central Bank of China
PRESS RELEASE Release Date: June 5, 2006

Foreign Exchange Reserves as at the End of
May 2006

The foreign exchange reserves of the Republic of China amounted to US$260.94 billion at the end of May 2006, showing an increase of US$1,904 million from the figure recorded at the end of the previous month.

Although there was a net outflow of foreign capital in May, returns from foreign exchange reserves management and the appreciation of major currencies against the US dollar caused the level of foreign exchange reserves, denominated in US dollars, to increase by US$1,904 million to USD260.94 billion.
