The Central Bank of China will issue a newly designed New Taiwan Dollar banknote
in the denomination of NT$100 on 2nd July 2001, to be circulated concurrently
with the existing NT$100 banknotes.
Design and Specifications:
1.Denomination: NT$100
2.Dimensions: 145mm ¡Ñ 70mm
3.Material: Paper
4.Main Color: Red
5.Design:
Obverse : a portrait of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen. The intaglio printing reads " The
Republic of China ", " The Central Bank of China ", " One Hundred Dollars " and
"100".
Reverse: the Chung-Shan Building.
The new banknotes are printed by China Engraving & Printing Works. The engraving
was made in 2000.
The new banknotes will be circulated simultaneously in Taiwan, Kinmen and Matsu
region.
The existing NT$100 notes, engraved in 1987 or before, will remain in
circulation until 30th June 2002. All branches of the Bank of Taiwan will redeem
previous issues of the NT$100 banknotes after the above-mentioned date.
