THE ISSUEANCE OF A SILVER COIN TO COMMEMORATE THE "34TH BASEBALL WORLD CUP" HOSTED BY THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA

Date: 1st November 2001

The Central Bank of China will issue a commemorative silver coin on 6th November 2001 to commemorate the "34th Baseball World Cup" hosted by the Republic of China. The Bank of Taiwan is appointed as the delegate of the Central Bank of China to deal with the sale of commemorative silver coins. Each commemorative silver coin costs NT$750.

Description:

1. Face Value: NT$50

2. Purity: 99.9% silver

3. Weight: 15.568 gms

4. Diameter: 33 mm

5. Design:

Obverse: A baseball batter, with a baseball in the background and "2001 Taipei" on the right, forms the main design. The upper part of the coin is inscribed with Chinese characters which mean "The 90th Year of the Republic of China," and below the batter "In Commemoration of the 34th Baseball World Cup."

Reverse: A picture of Mount Jade, the highest mountain in Taiwan, forms the main design with "¥É¤s Mt. Jade, Taiwan" inscribed below. The upper part of the coin is inscribed with "XXXIV BASEBALL WORLD CUP." The face value and purity of the silver coin are shown below the main design.
