The Commemorative Coin Set for the Chinese Zodiac Year of the Rooster
The Central Bank of China will issue the commemorative coin set for 2005, the Chinese Zodiac year of the Rooster on the 20th of January 2005. Each set consists of one silver coin weighing an ounce as well as two proof coins in different denominations. The former has a face value of NT$100, the other two NT$50 and NT$20, respectively. Each proof coin set costs NT$1250.
The obverse of the coin features a rooster as it proudly surveys its domain: the image of prosperity. The chicks beside it represent lasting peace, fortune and prosperity. The reverse features the Da Chen Palace of the Temple of Confucius in Tainan which was built right into a mountain slope.
The Bank of Taiwan and the Central Trust of China are appointed as the delegates of the Central Bank of China to deal with the sale of 114,000 sets and 6,000 sets of proof coin sets. Each person may purchase one set at a time.
