Average Rate on New Loans of Five Major Banks (July 2026)
For the month of July 2026, the weighted average interest rate on new loans extended by the five major domestic banks (Bank of Taiwan, Taiwan Cooperative Bank, First Commercial Bank, Hua Nan Commercial Bank, and Land Bank of Taiwan) increased by 0.012 percentage points from 2.155% in the previous month to 2.167%. This was because, while interest rates for housing loans declined, those for all other loan categories increased.
As the five major domestic banks recorded no Treasury borrowings in July, the weighted average interest rate on new loans extended by the five major banks excluding Treasury borrowings was the same at 2.167%, also up by 0.012 percentage points from 2.155% in the previous month.
