Average Rate on New Loans of  Five Major Banks (May 2026)

For the month of May 2026, the weighted average interest rate on newly-extended loans of the five major domestic banks (Bank of Taiwan, Taiwan Cooperative Bank, First Commercial Bank, Hua Nan Commercial Bank and Land Bank of Taiwan) increased by 0.002 percentage points from 2.206% in the previous month to 2.208%. This was because, while interest rates for consumer loans declined, those for all other loan categories increased.

As the five major domestic banks recorded no Treasury borrowings in May, the weighted average interest rate on newly-extended loans by the five major banks excluding Treasury borrowings was the same at 2.208%, also up by of 0.002 percentage points from 2.206% in the previous month.

 

Note:  The next Average Rate on New Loans of  Five Major Banks (June 2026) is scheduled for release at 16:20 on July 22, 2026.
