Average Rate on New Loans of  Five Major Banks (April 2026)

For the month of April 2026, the weighted average interest rate on newly-extended loans of the five major domestic banks (Bank of Taiwan, Taiwan Cooperative Bank, First Commercial Bank, Hua Nan Commercial Bank and Land Bank of Taiwan) increased by 0.101 percentage points from 2.105% in the previous month to 2.206% owing to increases in the interest rates across all loans categories, especially current operation loans.

As the five major domestic banks did not undertake any Treasury borrowings in April, the weighted average interest rate on newly-extended loans by the five major banks excluding Treasury borrowings remained at 2.206%, representing an increase of 0.064 percentage points from 2.142% in the previous month.

 

Note:  The next Average Rate on New Loans of  Five Major Banks (May 2026) is scheduled for release at 16:20 on June 18, 2026.
