The Issuance of a Commemorative Silver Coin for the Championship Victory of the WBSC Premier12 2024
In celebration of the Taiwan’s national baseball team winning the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Premier12 championship on November 24, 2024, the Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) will issue a “Commemorative Silver Coin for the Championship Victory of the WBSC Premier12 2024.”
1. Coin Design
This fine commemorative silver coin is engraved with a face value of NT$50, containing 1/2 troy ounce of silver. The descriptions on the obverse and reverse sides are as follows:
Obverse: With the theme “Celebrating Victory,” the image shows a player raising the trophy in triumph, capturing the glorious moment when, after a relentless campaign, the national team won the championship. It is engraved with Chinese characters that mean “Republic of China Year 114,” “Third WBSC Premier12 Baseball Tournament,” “Championship Commemoration.”
Reverse: The main design features a baseball theme, showcasing the power, grace, and fighting spirit of players as they pitch, bat, and catch on the field. It is engraved with “GLOBAL CHAMPIONS PREMIER 12,” and the 50-dollar face value of the coin in Arabic numerals with the Chinese character “Yuan.” The bottom part is engraved with “1/2 oz,” “2024.11.24,” “Ag999.”
2. Coin Pre-Order
(1) Quantity and Price
All the commemorative coins are available by pre-order only, and each purchaser is limited to order one silver coin. A maximum of 36,000 commemorative silver coins will be offered at NT$1,600 each. If the total number of orders exceeds the maximum quantity, a computer-generated random drawing will be conducted.
(2) Channels and Durations
The Bank has delegated the Bank of Taiwan (BOT) to conduct the pre-order sale of the commemorative coins both online and through its branch network. The public can pre-order on the BOT designated online ordering platform from 10:00 a.m. on June 23 through to midnight on July 2, or pre-order in person at any BOT branch during the opening hours over the same period.
If the total number of orders exceeds the maximum quantity, a computer-generated random drawing will be conducted on July 3. The result will be announced on the BOT’s website before 6:00 p.m. on the same day. Payments must be made no later than 3:30 p.m. on July 11. Once the payment is made successfully, the coin is expected to be available for collection at the BOT branch designated during pre-order in November this year. The Bank will announce the exact pickup date separately.
