Approved foreign exchange business in August 2023

In line with the policy of promoting the liberalization, internationalization, and development of the foreign exchange market, the Bank approved the following:

1. Chang Hwa Commercial Bank, China Construction Bank Taipei Branch, Taiwan Business Bank, First Commercial Bank, Bank of Taiwan, Mega International Commercial Bank and Land Bank of Taiwan to issue foreign currency denominated negotiable certificates of deposit.

2. E. Sun Commercial Bank to issue two callable dollar-denominated senior unsecured structured notes linked to interest rate and a dollar-denominated senior unsecured structured note linked to foreign exchange rate.

3. Pictet SICE(Taiwan)Limited to act as the local mandated agent of an offshore fund institution and conduct private placement to specified counterparties.

4. Five branches of four banks to operate the foreign exchange business. As of the end of August 2023, there were 3,462 authorized banks, including 3,422 domestic banks, 3 Mainland banks, and 37 foreign banks.
