The Issuance of the Chinese Zodiac Commemorative Coin Set for the Ren Yin Year of the Tiger
The Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) will issue a coin set for the Ren Yin Year of the Tiger, the sixth set of the third series of the Chinese Zodiac Commemorative Coin Set.
1. Sales Channel
The Bank has delegated the Bank of Taiwan (BOT) to conduct the sale of the coin sets both online and through its branch network. The public can place orders online starting at 10:00 a.m. on January 4, or purchase the coin sets in person at any BOT branch from January 19, 2022 onwards.
2. Quantity and Price
A total of 90,000 coin sets will be offered at NT$1,800 each. Half of the coin sets will be available online, and the remainder will be sold through the BOT branches. Each purchaser can place an order online for up to ten coin sets, or purchase the coin sets at any BOT branch on a first-come, first-served basis, limited to two sets per purchaser at a time.
3. Coin Design
Each set consists of one silver coin weighing an ounce with a face value of NT$100, as well as one copper-alloy coin with a face value of NT$10. The obverse of the silver coin shows the gold-plated image of a tiger, and the reverse features an image of the Orchid Island Flying Fish Festival, which is a series of ceremonies conducted by the Yami (Tao) people. The image on the obverse of the copper-alloy coin is a tiger, while the image of the camellia on the reverse is pad printed in white.
4. Online Orders
A BOT designated online ordering platform at https://coinset.bot.com.tw will be available from 10:00 a.m. on January 4 till 12:00 p.m. on January 10. If the total number of online orders exceeds the online sales quota, a computer-generated random drawing will be conducted. The result will be announced on the BOT’s website at 9:00 a.m. on January 11. Payments must be made no later than 3:30 p.m. on January 14. Once the payment is made successfully, the coin set(s) can be collected from the BOT branch designated when the order was placed, within a month starting from January 19.
