Foreign Exchange Reserves as of the End of March 2021
The foreign exchange reserves of the Republic of China amounted to US$539.04 billion as of the end of March 2021, showing an decrease of US$4.28 billion from the figure recorded at the end of the previous month.
The factors responsible for change in the foreign exchange reserves in March 2021 are:

Returns from foreign exchange reserves management.

Exchange rate movements of other reserve currencies against the USD.

Large capital outflows caused excessive volatility. The central bank stepped in to maintain an orderly foreign exchange market.

Note: The market value of securities investment and the NTD deposits held by foreign portfolio investors at the end of March 2021 reached US$669.2 billion, equivalent to 124% of foreign exchange reserves.
