Credit Card and Shared ATM System

Credit Card and Shared ATM System

The largest credit card networks in Taiwan are Visa and MasterCard. The interbank settlements of credit card transactions between card-issuing banks and the retail merchant's banks are made by the FISC, or the National Credit Card Center.

The Shared ATM System is operated by the FISC. All the participants in the IRS can join the Shared ATM System to provide services of 24-hour cross-bank withdrawal, balance inquiry, funds transfer, credit card cash advance, and IC card loading. It is modulated by the Ministry of Finance. Net positions are settled daily through a special account maintained at the Bank.
