Compilation Guide on Financial Soundness Indicators, issued by International
Monetary Fund (IMF), consists of 15 chapters divided into four parts. Except for an introduction made in Chapter 1, main issues addressed by each part are laid out as follows:
Part I Conceptual Framework
Covering Chapter 2 to 5, Part I describes the constituents of a typical financial system, provides the accounting principles,accounting framework and sectoral financial statements required for calculating Financial Soundness Indicators (FSIs) and explains how data are aggregated and consolidated.
Part II Specification of Financial Soundness Indicators
Covering Chapter 6 to 9, Part II provides specific guidance on how to calculate the FSIs for deposit-takers, other sectors (include the other financial corporations sector, the nonfinancial corporations sector and the household sector), financial markets and real estate price indices, and discusses certain definitional issues need to be addressed.
Part III Compilation and Dissemination of Financial Soundness Indicators
Covering Chapter 10 to 12, Part III provides an overview of the compilation of FSIs and presents a framework for the dissemination of FSIs.
Part IV Analysis of Financial Soundness Indicators
Covering Chapter 13 to 15, Part IV discusses the FSIs and macroprudential analysis, the analytical use of specific FSIs and some analytical techniques.
