| Coverage characteristics |
Data are disseminated on the stock of external assets and external liabilities at the end of the reference period for the period for the following prescribed components: direct investment, portfolio investment, financial derivatives, other investment, and reserve assets. These are further classified by instruments and by sectors. Data are disseminated in millions of U.S. dollars on the international investment position.
The data are compiled in accordance with the methodology set out in the fifth edition of the IMF's Balance of Payments Manual. |

| Simultaneous release to all interested parties |
The data are released simultaneous to all interested parties by issuing the news release "International Investment Position". The data are also posted on the Internet (http://www.cbc.gov.tw/EngHome/eeconomic/statistics/bop/new/IIP-e.xls) at the same time as the official release. The data are subsequently published in the Balance of Payments Quarterly. |
