| Coverage characteristics |
Data on reserve money, domestic claims on the public sector and on the private sector, and the gross foreign position are in billions of New Taiwan dollars, based on the CBC's accounting records. Reserve money includes currency issued, excluding the CBC's cash in vaults, and reserve deposits with the CBC. Adjusted annual growth rates of reserve money, calculated based on the latest required reserve ratios, are also released. Domestic claims on the public sector include loans & advances to government, holdings of securities of government enterprises, and holdings of securities of government agencies and government enterprises bought through open market operations. Domestic claims on the private sector include holdings of securities of private enterprises bought through open market operations, the amount of which is negligible. Besides, the data on claims on financial institutions are included in claims on the private sector. The CBC has no foreign liabilities. |

An advance release calendar is disseminated on the CBC's Internet website. A one-week ahead notice of the confirmed/revised calendar is available in a press release issued in the morning of the first day of the release week. |

Article 17 of
Central Bank of the Republic of China
(Taiwan) Act provides that the CBC shall publish the amount of currency in circulation and reserve status of currency in circulation, and Article 39 provides that the CBC shall collect and compile financial data for the purpose of monetary policies and economic research. |
